Thin Client
Computing, from Microsoft and Citrix, brings the familiar Windows
desktop and applications to the user but returns complete control
and security back to the client’s IT department.
Thin client computing generally has a positive payback period
of 2-3 years depending upon the size of the installation. All
of the FTSE 100 and Fortune 100 companies use some form of thin
client computing because of the long term savings. These savings
can be made by any company over 20 users! How
does it work?
Windows Terminal users send keyboard and mouse-stroke requests
to the thin client servers who in turn process these requests
and send back the graphic information to screen. Desktop users
will not notice any difference to their working environment.
The benefits of Thin Client Computing
are many... • No need to continually replace
desktop hardware every few years • No need to over
pay for software licences as licence control and auditing is
simple and effective in this environment • Reduced
user errors, therefore greater productivity • Greater
system security • Increased system up time (with
2 or more servers (clustering or load balancing) •
Reduced network administration costs • Remote working
through a web browser - log on and use your desktop applications
any-time, any-place, anywhere • Remotely control/support/train
any user on the network |
